Palestinian Liberation is Geography's Business

In the recent 2025 conference of the Institute of Australian Geographers, the Geographers for Palestine group came together to position a free Palestine as core to geography’s concerns. The zine below was created as a way to engage with the audience during the conference and call for direct actions within the institute.


Afterward, the group felt it could be valuable to share this document more widely - particularly with communities and scholars involved in those discussions. See below!





Australian geography, like geography more broadly, is deeply entangled with the legacies and ongoing violences of colonialism and imperialism, which have always been geographical projects of dispossession and control. To study geography is therefore also to grapple with questions of justice, liberation, and decolonisation—whether in Australia or elsewhere.
